SNTM is a representative trade union, one of the most active trade unions in Romania, which militates on all legal paths to uphold the rights of its members. According to the statute, any person, without any distinction, can become a member of the union.

SNTM is a member of the National Federation of Workers and the National Trade Union Block.

The trade union protects the rights of the employees and negotiates with the employers in the interest and for the defense of the rights of its members and, at the same time, represents their interests in relation to the public authorities, offers collective and, as the case may be, individual counseling and, last but not least, the legal protection of its members.

The unity of the employees, the solidarity and the union’s efforts to protect the legal rights that belong to the workers are often attacked, for unannounced reasons, at the negotiation table. Therefore, certain obscure forces are trying to turn the trade union action into an ongoing administrative and legal battle, of which, obviously, neither party has to win.

Among the obscure forces, unfortunately, there are dignitaries or civil servants who, at the shelter of the authorities they represent, act both to the detriment of the public interest, as well as to the employer who guides them on a costly road, which is at the limit of the law.

SNTM considers it is essential that trade unions and progressive forces, as a whole, remain committed to the fundamental principles of equal rights and social protection for all workers and recommends to its members strictly respecting their legal obligations as a result of labor relations. .

 When the employer fails to apply the same standard of treatment to all employees, the unjustified member may request the union’s support to resolve his case.

 The union is dedicated to promoting better working conditions, fair wages and social rights for all who live and work, without exception and without discrimination.
